Would You Like to: Reduce Injuries and Save Money?
JGC Industry, Inc’s Skills Enhancement Program
… Is designed to reduce injuries to CNAs & Nurses by 75% - 85% during patient transfer. A minor back injury costs a facility $8,000 or more in unnecessary workers comp claims; our program is significantly less than just one injury.
NIOSH has stated that RNs push, pull, turn, and lift 1.8 tons during an eight (8) hour shift. CNAs do 4 to 5 times more than that.
Let us show you how you can do a manual, zero lift transfer on a 6’4”, 250 lb. man without lifting or twisting either the patient or staff member’s body, and easily stay within OSHA’s 35 lb. weight limits.
Over the past eight years JGC Industries, Inc. has worked with:

Safe Product Committees
Employee Safety Committees
Risk Management Insurance Companies
Risk Managers
To find solutions to help reduce injuries to their staff and patients during transfers.
Did you know? Therapists spend an ENTIRE SEMESTER in Therapy School learning body mechanics, transfer techniques and practicing those techniques on students and patients – a whole semester?
A CNA who had just completed her CNA certification shared with me that she had received just ONE HOUR of transfer training – VIA COMPUTER. That’s ONE HOUR to learn proper Body Mechanics and various transfer techniques – and not even hands-on! So, the people who are doing the most transfers are receiving the least amount of training.
OUR SKILLS ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM IS A YEAR LONG PROGRAM WHICH INCLUDES… On-Site Skills Enhancement: The best way to learn is to learn by doing, so all participants will receive one-on-one instruction, transferring the instructor 2 or 3 different ways.
The Seven Types of Patient Transfers:
-
Machine Transfers
-
Hoyer Lifts, Sit-to-Stands, and Ceiling Lifts
-
-
Manual Transfers
-
CNA’s, Nurses, and other staff physically move the patient from point A to point B. We highly recommend JGC’s Skills Enhancement Program, which fine tunes the skills your staff already has to achieve optimal safety and efficiency, and teaches them how to use Gait Belts, Swivels, Slide Boards, and Transfer Vests. These skills will make it possible for them to stay within NIOSH’s 35 lb. lift policy, even during the most challenging of transfers. Staff receives enhancement skills both with and without equipment usage
-
-
Repositioning Patient in Bed
-
We highly recommend the Ergo Nurse patient repositioning system for this. Unique in the industry, it is setting a new bar for staff and patient safety
-
-
Lateral Transfer
-
We highly recommend the Air Pal, especially the Single Patient Use series for lateral transfers
-
-
NoLift Patient Roll
-
Unlike the traditional “Log Roll”, which puts undue compression force on the caregivers’ back, the NoLift Patient Roll allows caregivers to roll the patient without damage to the caregivers’ back
-
-
Portable Lift Assist Device Transfers
-
An individual medic or caregiver can lift a patient off of the ground or floor (up to 500 lb.) using this The Plad Pro-Lift LX device
-
-
Patient Assist Transfers
-
These are transfers in which the patient is able to help in the transfer as taught by physical therapy.
